ArtForge : Q & A
ArtForge is a tool to manage the production of digital content. If you create large sets of data or if the data you deal with go through iterations or validations, then ArtForge is the right tool for you.
What are the benefits of using ArtForge ?
ArtForge saves the time a team wastes working on data that are wrong, not validated, outdated, not urgent, based on input that have been changed meanwhile, …etc. It also spares the production team a lot of communication work, and gives accurate and detailed information on the time spent by everyone on the project.
Most project management tools are designed to help you work on a pre-defined plan, that everyone has to comply with. They make it difficult for the project manager to synchronize his/her view with reality and to update everyone’s priorities with new plans. ArtForge has been designed from the start in collaboration with users that work in creative industries, where plans change very often, and where users create a lot of data. So, everyone is always in sync with reality.
How long does it take to learn ArtForge ?
ArtForge is very simple to learn, because we know that you may need new resources or subcontractors overnight, and you cannot have them follow a training before they start.
For project managers, we provide simple production templates, so that when you start, you know exactly how it works.
Can I connect ArtForge to existing tools ?
Yes, of course. You can connect to the ArtForge database with REST webservices, and we provide Python APIs . We can help you if you need support.
How can I keep production information confidential ?
Every user has a login and a role per project, that defines rights on data (Create, Read, Update, Delete). So, you can control who can have access to which data.
Won't such a tool reduce our creativity ?
No, because ArtForge does not compell you to follow strict rules, nor to wait for someone to finish his work before you can start yours. It naturally adapts to your way of working.
On the contrary, your creativity is increased because users connect more easily together.
ArtForge is the result of the collaboration of leading French studios to create a production management software that fits their needs : professionalism, creativity, a lot of agility and project management practices based on real costs and real deliverables. They have joined their R&D efforts, and worked together with passionate end users (production managers and artists). We have worked with several studios to make sure that ArtForge fits all needs.
The development of ArtForge has been achieved within the HD3D.IIO R&D project, with the support of the business cluster Cap Digital.
